Robert Nelkenstock
Robert Nelkenstock was born in Bad Brückenau in 1996 and started playing the piano at the age of 6. He has been playing the tuba since he was 12 and also took drum lessons at the local music school. After graduating from high school, he trained as a state-certified ensemble leader at the vocational music school in Bad Königshofen. In 2020 he completed his bachelor's degree with a major in tuba under Prof. Dirk Hirthe at the Karlsruhe University of Music.
In addition to successful participation in international competitions, Robert has also performed with several professional orchestras such as the Baden State Orchestra Karlsruhe.
In the 18/19 season he was an academic at the German State Philharmonic Orchestra of Rhineland-Palatinate in Ludwigshafen.
Since 2019, Robert Nelkenstock has lived in Heidelberg, where he is studying human medicine at the University of Heidelberg. Since 2021, he has been working on his doctorate at the Institute for Music Physiology and Musician Medicine in Hanover under Prof. Dr. Eckart Altenmüller on movement patterns in healthy brass players and those suffering from embouchure dystonia.
